JWI Supports Tina’s Wish in its Fight against Ovarian Cancer

On December 1, 2022, Jolene Wee and Greg Sowers joined more than 80 others in support of The Honorable Tina Brozman Foundation for Ovarian Cancer Research (Tina’s Wish) at its inaugural D.C. Metro Gathering event.

Tina’s Wish is an organization that supports research in the areas of early detection and prevention of ovarian cancer. The foundation was established in 2008 in memory of the Honorable Tina Brozman, former chief judge of the SDNY Bankruptcy Court, who died two years after she was diagnosed – too late – with ovarian cancer.

Ovarian cancer is a treatable and preventable disease when risk factors are identified and preventive measures are taken or when diagnosed in the early stages. Shockingly, 80% of cases are not diagnosed until the late stages of the disease, when treatments can often not be effective.

Tina’s Wish funds research in education, early detection, and treatment of ovarian cancer. The organization has helped to support significant advances in the areas of novel screening techniques, new imaging approaches, mouse models of early cancer development, and immune therapies by prestigious medical facilities such as John Hopkins Medicine, Memorial Sloan Kettering, Penn Medicine, and The Wistar Institute.

JWI would like to relay belated recognition and gratitude to IWIRC Greater Maryland (a Silver Sponsor of the event) for the invitation to represent them in support of a wonderful organization and cause. JWI is a proud Gold Sponsor of IWIRC Greater Maryland, where Jolene serves as Treasurer.

JWI is proud to support Tina’s Wish and its mission to save women’s lives. Please go to https://tinaswish.org/ to learn more and donate to this worthy organization.
